Many individuals are not aware that mental illness is a relatively new condition in the medicalfield. Only in the last 30-40 years have we even truly recognized it as an illness and while research isextensive, the origin is often illusive and the treatments perhaps more so. So often we find in medicinethat it is more practice than perfect, and mental illness tends to be even more so. The illness does notlend itself to the ease of physical testing we so often see. The lack of physical evidence causes significantissues with diagnosis and ultimately the treatment required. The difficulty level of this illness far exceedsmost for its ability to cause serious life-altering problems, and death. The problem lies not in thephysical chemical changes but its ability to alter one’s personal internal reality. My intent is not a clinicalexamination of the subject but rather a spiritual one. We can often find information on the clinical. Thespiritual however is another story. My intent is to provide some insight into the spiritual nature of the illness, and ultimately how we can live with it and continue to be safely within the covenant path.
